Dear Activists,
Would you come to Raleigh Wednesday morning? Your help is needed.
There will be a very important hearing on HB 188 (Taxpayer Bill of Rights) at the General Assembly this Wednesday and we need as many activists in that committee room to support it, as possible.
AFP has promoted a Taxpayer Bill of Rights for years and this will be the first time we will actually see real consideration of this idea at the General Assembly.
In a nutshell, a Taxpayer Bill of Rights would amend the state constitution to create a General Fund Expenditure Limit. This amendment would tie future increases in the general fund budget to inflation and population growth. If this bill passed, legislators would no longer be able to make reckless increases in the budget. If they wanted to increase the budget beyond inflation and population growth, it would take an affirmative vote of 2/3 of the legislators of each house of the General Assembly.
Would you be willing to come to Raleigh on Wednesday, May 25 to stand in support of this bill? Would you spread the word to others? You would not need to speak at the hearing but simply be there to support it.

AFP is a “special interest” group funded by the Billionaire Koch brothers. They need to get the heck out of NC. Our elected officials have NO BUSINESS swearing allegiance to a Washington DC special interest PAC over the interests of the people who elected them.
American’s for Prosperity (AFP) is the same kind of org as your coveted Organizing for America, or MoveOn.org, or Center for American Progress, etc…, but AFP is conservative. We like them. We will read what they write and make our own decisions. You enjoy your groups and stop with the name calling.
“Our elected officials have NO BUSINESS swearing allegiance to a Washington DC special interest PAC over the interests of the people who elected them.” If that’s not the pot calling the kettle black.
