Clearly the George W Bush presidency was fare worse than Obama’s past two years. First, he stole the vote in Florida and stole the election as a result. He was put into office by the Republican-controlled Supreme Court — not by We the People. So clearly just on the aspect of legitimacy Bush had less legitimacy than Obama.
Bush took a US budget surplus when he was elected and turned it into record debt in his eight years of irresponsible tax cuts and unfunded foreign wars. Plus, he presided over the transfer of US industry and jobs from the United States to Mexico, China, India, etc.
Obama has inherited the train wreck that Bush created and has gotten no help at all from Republicans on creating new jobs and restoring the national economy. Rush Limbaguh stated the Republican strategy from day one when Obama went into office: Republicans should want Obama to fail, because if he succeeds in turning the economy around Republicans will not regain control of the government. So that’s been the Republican strategy for the past two years: do everything they can to make things worse and blame it all on Obama. What kind of people and party are these Republicans to pursue such an agenda? Promote ruin just for the sake of political power! This is the kind of ruthless self-serving behavior one would have expected from Communists 60 or 70 years ago.
