My personal opinion: Whether you agree, or not, with the issue, please come hear the speakers arguments and rationale for their positions. Ask the hosting candidate about it. I think it’s a slippery slope. If you allow gay marriage, you must allow other arrangements to become legal. Where will you draw the line?
It does not create any discrimination or legal prohibitions with regard to inheritance, employment, employment benefits, hospital visitation, living arrangements, or the like. It does address the definition of marriage only. One example of how this will play out is that gay couples moving to NC from other states will not given different legal preference than those given to residents.
Febuary 18th –Defense of Marriage Rally and free breakfast addressing the Primary Ballot issue that all North Carolinians will be voting on in May to amend the NC Constitution to define marriage as one man and one woman.
February 18th, Saturday from 9am – 11am at Granny’s Kitchen, 3448 Miller Bridge Rd, in Ichard, located off I-40 at Exit 116. THIS IS NOT A TEA PARTY EVENT.
Hosted by Mark Meadows, candidate for US House, “The threat of our state’s definition of marriage is real. In fact, NC is the only remaining southern state that has not protected the definition of marriage in its constitution.”
