Whereas, in April of 2013, the North Carolina 11th District Republican Party adopted a resolution requesting that our US House Rep., Mark Meadows, “make every effort to amend … subsequent appropriations bills to exclude any appropriations delegated to aspects of Obamacare implementation,” and;
Whereas, in June of 2013, the North Carolina Republican Party passed a resolution at their state convention calling upon all members of North Carolina’s congressional delegation to “make every effort to amend the language of subsequent appropriations bills to exclude appropriations delegated to any and all aspects of Obamacare implementation,” and;
Whereas, in August of 2013, the Republican National Committee unanimously adopted a resolution brought forward by the North Carolina Republican Party Chairman, Claude Pope, which resolved to ensure that all Republican US House Representatives be made aware that it is the will of the RNC that they abstain from providing any further funding for aspects of Obamacare implementation, and;
Whereas, in response to aforementioned declarations as well as contact from NC-11 constituents, NC 11th District US House Representative Mark Meadows circulated a letter urging Speaker John Boehner to abstain from providing funding for Obamacare implementation in the Continuing Resolution, and further served as an outspoken advocate for refusal to provide Obamacare funding within new appropriations legislation, and;
Whereas; the actions of Mark Meadows began a national movement around the effort to defund Obamacare, causing CNN to refer to Rep. Meadows as “the architect” of the defunding Obamacare effort, a label which Caldwell TEA Party is proud to proclaim of our US House Representative, and;
Whereas, many grassroots organizations like HeritageAction, FreedomWorks, iCaucus, TEA Party Patriots, TEA Party Express, Asheville TEA PAC, Madison Project, and Carolina Liberty PAC, to name a few, have expressed their public support for Rep. Mark Meadows’ efforts to defund Obamacare in fulfillment of his campaign promise; and,
Whereas; Harry Reid & the Democrat-controlled US Senate’s refusal to accept an appropriations bill without Obamacare funding has resulted in a 15% halt of nonessential federal spending, while still providing funding for our national defense and paying our military members, a great victory for fiscal conservatives, and;
Whereas; the ongoing national debate over Obamacare funding has served as an illustration of the absurdity of the democrat-controlled administration by actions such as the labeling of a 15% federal spending halt as a “government shutdown,” as well as the Democrat-controlled Senate’s unwillingness to engage in debate over spending measures and President Obama’s stated intention to veto any appropriations measures that do not include funding for specified pet projects, and;
Whereas; the ongoing national debate over Obamacare funding has served as an illustration of the hypocrisy of the current administration by actions such as the shutting down of sites that would be otherwise unaffected by the current spending halt, were it not for President Obama’s stationing of federal guards around sites such as the World War II memorial, which is privately financed, and Asheville NC’s Pisgah Inn, which is a privately owned business, as well as Harry Reid’s declared refusal to hear individual pieces of legislation to provide federal funding for the clinicals of child cancer patients, and;
Therefore; on October 10, 2013, Caldwell TEA Party
Resolves a formal declaration of recognition, appreciation, and support to our US House Representative, Mark Meadows, for an exemplary demonstration of leadership and service as well as consideration and accurate representation of the constituents of Caldwell County, North Carolina.
