Two races on this ballot: NC Supreme Court and US House
One Supreme Court Justice seat is on everyone’s ballot. There are THREE Democrats and ONE Republican listed. Since it’s a non-partisan race, their party affiliations are not marked on the ballot, making it hard for everyone to have the most basic knowledge – R or D. If the voters know, the voters can make their decision.
Justice Robert Edmunds (R) is currently on the Supreme Court. He is a conservative.
This is very important, as the balance of decision making could shift to the Dem’s if the Republican doesn’t win. Right now the NC Supreme Court is 4 Repub and 3 Dem.
The only other race on our ballots is the Congressional races, and they are under heated litigation. Some districts have been re-drawn. The Democrats are challenging the District Boundaries and this June 7th election may not stand. It hasn’t been authorized yet. That’s the short story.
Rep. Mark Meadows (R), NC-11, has no opponent in his Republican Primary, but he will not be on the June 7th ballot. However, there are two Democrats (Tom Hill and Rick Bryson) running for this seat. One Dem will make it to the ballot in November with Rep. Meadows in November.
