I thought eVerify was a good idea
Recently, I found out that our NC Rep. George Robinson voted against eVerify legislation in the North Carolina House. The bill still passed, and I was relieved. When I discussed this with some others, I found out that eVerify isn’t the solution I thought it was.
My assumption of eVerify:
Employer checks a national database with an prospective employee’s name, birth date, and Social Security number to make sure there is a match. A match would prove the employee has the right to work in the USA.
How eVerify really works is backwards and crazy.

NC Rep Edgar Starnes retires and his seat is up for grabs
Rep. Edgar Starnes retired 1/13/15 to take a position with NC STATE TREASURER JANET COWELL (D) as Legislative Liason. The new person must take the seat by 1/27/15 for an important vote. Caldwell County GOP (CCGOP) is having a closed door Executive Committee meeting “soon” to vote on the appointee. The CCGOP didn’t want to discuss this issue at their last regularly scheduled meeting on 1/13/15, even through all parties were present. Continue reading

NC House and Senate races heat up!
NC HOUSE RACE: Mr . Greene has based his early campaign on not supporting the Defense of Marriage Amendment (also called Amendment 1 by the Democrats), claiming he is for liberty and allowing people to be free to make those decisions for themselves and wanting to keep the government out of marriage. -Not exactly “traditional”.
NC SENATE RACE: He has gone to Raleigh and kept those promises. Mr. Soucek is of a new generation of political leaders who are true servants. Mr. Soucek should be returned to Raleigh to serve another term with more GOP leaders from the new generation. Continue reading
