Report of Platform Committee

North Carolina Republican Party

Adopted in Convention on June 3, 2011

Wilmington, NC

Article I:  Family

1.       Our nation’s strength lies with the family.  It is the first school of good citizenship, the engine of economic progress, and a haven of security and understanding.

2.       The ideal environment for raising children is a two-parent family.  We support policies that encourage a husband and wife to live in harmony in one home.  We recognize that single parents often succeed and that two-parent families sometimes fail.  We praise the efforts of single parents who work to provide stable homes.

3.       Government cannot legislate compassion.  It should not preempt parental responsibility.  Government should protect children from abuse and neglect, balancing parental right with the protection of a child’s health and safety.  We support private initiatives that provide services to dysfunctional families.  Taxpayers should not benefit plans for unmarried partners.

4.       We support federal and State constitutional amendments to limit marriage to the union of one man and one woman.  We oppose adoption or foster parenting by same sex couples.

Though my TeaParty membership is through a Gulf Coast location (Florida), I am a native daughter of Lenoir, NC and was a graduate of Lenoir High School back in the day (Go Bearcats). I have so many concerns for our country – just as you all do. My question to you is this: Are you saying that (as a group) you are not in favor of a third political party? Why or Why not? My affiliation is with Save America Foundation. My maiden name is Pam Broach. I’d love to hear what’s happening at home.

  2. Christine says:

I only mentioned not being a third-party because lately people are reluctant to get involved because they think we are a full-fledged political party. We are not. We are just a group of very concerned citizens who are looking to affect some change in politics today.

If you or anyone what to vote for a third-party candidate, that is your choice.

I looked at your foundation’s site. I like it. I like the event, too. August 28th in Grand Junction, CO, with Tom Tancredo??! Wow! I will be in DC that day. We should stay connected. I’m going to edit our your email address (spammers will take it), but I’ll keep it.

I just moved to Lenoir 7 years ago. I love it here!!

  3. Zachary Cady says:

I am contacting you on behalf of the North Carolina Republican Party. We are currently in desperate need of volunteers to make phone calls from the office of Jeff Miller for Congress in Hendersonville. Our phone banking hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, and all day on Saturdays. Your help is crucial during this election cycle, as we work to bring to an end the blatant disregard for fiscal responsibility that has become the cornerstone of the liberal agenda in Washington D.C. Please give us just a few hours of your time to make true change a reality. Call us at (828) 832-6376 if you are interested. Thank you.

  4. Christine says:

I would hope that some of you who support fiscal responsibility would consider this. I’ll go too, if you let me know. It’s really easy.
