Why the GOP will cave on the debt ceiling

Self-preservation and Pork. So, what does that have to do with it? Well, it’s the sad state that the GOP and the Democrats have put us in. Elected officials from both parties will not cut off funding of special projects, pork and earmarks for their districts because that will hurt their reelection campaigns. Special interest lobbies are not going to stand for any hold ups in the stream of redistributed monies that they leech off of either.
The Republicans are especially sensitive to this because they know that if the debt ceiling is not raised, the President and his administration will use their discretion to put GOP favored spending on the chopping block first.
The handful of folks in Congress that are not beholden to pork or special interests will be hammered by their respective leadership to toe the party line so as not to hamper their comrades, I mean colleagues, in their efforts to win reelection.
Party before principle. Winning over what is best for the people. DC should stand for Disgusting Cowards for the majority of elected officials infecting that town!
I have to agree with much of this post. About a third of the elected Democrats in DC are principled men. Perhaps a tenth of the Republicans are. Ron Paul of Texas and Walter B. Jones Jr. of North Carolina are the only two honorable Republicans I can name off the top of my head. The rest of the Republicans are just paid whores to big business.
